Travel to willamette valley oregon with us!
Here is a recommended itinerary and travel stops if you are heading to the Willamette Valley, or if you are thinking about going in the future.
From Seattle its just over a 3 hour drive to the town of Dundee, at the heart of Willamette Valley wine country. You can also take an Amtrak to Portland and rent a car from there. Portland is about a 40 minute drive from Dundee.
There are several quaint towns to stay in, with B&Bs, and plenty of Airbnbs as well. I usually stay in Mcminnville or Dundee, but Dayton and Carlton are also good choices.
Renting a car is probably the best way to get around or driving yourself. There are usually Ubers available during the day, and lots of good bike routes as well.
Stop at the Red Hill Market in Dundee for picnic supplies, sandwiches, coffee, and water before heading out.
Dundee Oregon
Head to Dundee, a small quaint town in the heart of wine country. This is a good place to stay, get supplies, and book wine trips. Also a convenient spot to start and and end bike trips. Stop at Red Hills Market and visit Evening Land Vineyards tasting room.

Solena Estate Dinner, just outside Yamhill
We joined some of our friends for a club member’s wine harvest dinner and Solena Estate Winery just outside of Yamhill. We met the owners and wine maker and got to try a lineup of delicious wines. The only thing missing from the dinner was a pumpkin or squash soup!
Evening Land Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills
One of the “grand cru” vineyard sites in the Willamette Valley, some of the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay comes from here. One of my very favorite American wines is the Evening Land “La Source” Pinot Noir which hails from this magical vineyard.
Big Table Farm, Carlton Oregon
Here is a picture of the farm animals of Big Table Farm Winery. They have pigs, goats, dogs, cows, and many more animals living on this working farm. The also make some amazing wines, including several that are featured in this month’s wine offer. They also recently opened a new tasting room in Carlton.
Butternut Squash Soup with Big Table Farm Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir
This recipe was provided by Claire Carver from Big Table Farm, and is included in this month’s offer. This was my first attempt at making it and pairing it with one of my favorite Big Table Farm Pinot Noirs. A great autumn dish!
