Meet Founder Mark Craig
Special Bottle Club was founded by Mark Craig. Mark grew up in the heart of Washington state wine country making wine out of the garage with his father. He was fortunate to travel to some of the classic wine regions in Europe with his mother as a teenager and later as a young adult, including living in the Mosel region of Germany, and trips to Tuscany and Southern France, Australia, and California.
Mark became a certified sommelier in 2016, and since then has worked for Kestrel Vintners in Woodinville Washington, and served as part of the research team at WineFolly.
What inspires him the most will always be traveling to new wine regions. An experience where you get to sample the local wines alongside the local cuisine, meet the winemakers, and see what the local people drink on a day to day basis. That is the experience that he wishes to bring to the Special Bottle Club. Not only interesting and good wine, but an immersive and inspiring way to experience the wines of the world.
Recently in August 2021, Mark passed his Wine and Spirts Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 exam with “merit” rating in tasting and “distinction” rating in theory.
