Travel the columbia gorge with us!

Here is a short itinerary of our recent wine trip to the the Columbia Gorge. If you can’t make it soon, pop a bottle of some the new exciting wines from there and join along from home!

Here’s a short condensed itinerary of our wine trip from Seattle to the Columbia Gorge.

  • The drive from Seattle is about 4-5 hours depending on traffic. Highly recommend you bring your own car as ride service and public transit are limited.

  • Hood River is probably the closest large town but you can stay in smaller nearby towns like White Salmon, Lyle, or the Dalles.

Hiyu Wine Farm

An experience unlike anywhere else, winemaker Nate Ready is truly connected to the land and spiritual energy of this place. While natural wine lovers consider this place a hidden Mecca, there wines are fascinating to anyone willing to be curious.

Tasting Room at Analemma

Sitting in a biodynamic/organic vineyard and Gorge views, theres probably not a better tasting experience in the region for the combination of great wine and great views.

White Salmon Baking Company

Normally a great spot for coffee and pastries, on Monday nights it converts to a brick oven pizza and orange wine bar, a can’t miss!

Vineyards of Little Bastions

These guys are experimenting with all kinds of crazy vineyards and grape varitals, but the end result is always the same, delicious and interesting wine that holds the enthusiasm of the wine makers in every bottle.

Soils of the Gorge

This site, Mosier Hill, is made up of both alluvial deposits/river stones from the Missoula Flood as well as some glacial deposits. The soils of this region are very diverse with both river rock and volcanic rock and host of other types.

Michael Savage of Savage Grace Wines

Winemaker as Savage Grace, one of the best wineries in the state of Washington and one of my personal favorites. He specializes in cool climate grapes and many of his wines remind me of drinking old world Loire wines from France.
