Germany

Travel to Germany and explore Riesling with us!

Here is a short itinerary of our trips

Here’s a short condensed itinerary of our wine trip

  • There are many great wine regions in Germany that feature Riesling.

  • On our recent trip we were able to visit several flying into Frankfurt and out of Munich.

  • Rheingau is the closest major region to Frankfurt with Nahe nearby. Mosel is about 5 hours southwest and a loop back southeast takes you back to Munich.

  • Rental car is definitely the way to go. We stated in Hattenheim in Rheingau and Wehlen in the Mosel.

Rheingau Germany

Home to rolling golden hills of Riesling, stately castles or
”Schloss” and rich full bodied wines. This stately region is nestled along the broad slow flowing Rhine River and is the heartland of historic Riesling production.

Zum Krug

For a rich hearty local meal dine (and stay?) at hotel Zum Krug. Serving up hearty game dishes and a very deep Geman wine list, this little gem in Hattenheim is a must stop!

Donnhoff Estate

The legendary Riesling estate in Nahe, they produce and amazing lineup of wines from across the region and are truly the benchmarks for the Nahe region.

Sybille Kuntz

The magical vineyards of Sybille Kuntz in Lieser. One of the few pushing for biodynamic and regenerative agriculture, the proof is in the pudding, and shows up clearly in the delicious flavors of their wines.

The cellar at Dian in Bernkastel

The crazy deep cellar at Dian restaurant in Bernkastel in the Mosel, with plenty of great German Rieslings like Rudi Trossen’s Purus.

Fritz Haag “Brown Slate” Tasting

An amazing lineup of Riesling from Fritz Haag, made from a slightly different soil type. A bit riper and rounder, and overall truly delicious!
