Here’s a short condensed itinerary of our wine trip

  • We flew into Vienna, the capitol of Austria and rented a car at the airport.

  • Car rental is the easiest, but you can also take a train to Burgenland pretty easily.

  • You can bike or hire car, some Uber is available, but the area is a bit spread out with larger highways.

Vienna Austria

The capital of Austria and its largest city, this is a perfect spot to based your wine trip. About 1 hour from Burgenland and 3 hours from Styria, there are plenty of great restaurants, hotels, and wine bars.

Weinlaubenhof Kracher

A classic winery located on the Southeast shores of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. They are famed for producing some of the best dessert wines in the world. It’s a must stop for all sweet wine lovers.

Weingut Strehn

The pink wine expert of the region, you can see by the bottles of wine on the table how many different rosés she makes! Barrel aged, stainless steel, everything from light and fresh to very serious.

Pet-Nat bottling day at Rennersistas

Pet-Nat bottling day in the middle of a busy harvest and with a new born in tow, the Renner family was kind enough to host us for a tasting with 4 generations of family lending a hand.

The wild vineyards of Styria

The beautiful, wild, and rugged vineyards of Styria. Sauvignon Blanc is the best grape here, making savory and exotic wines unlike anything you’ve ever tried before.

The wine shelf at a local smash burger restaraunt. Many local producers found here both their bottles and themselves eating and drinking here after a long day.
