Wine Trip

Travel austria with us!

Here is a short itinerary of our wine trip to Austria.

  • Fly to Vienna and from there drive one hour up to Wachau wine region.

  • Car rental is really required as the region is pretty spread out and trains won’t allow you to make the shorter stops, however, trains are also safe and reliable.

  • Vienna is a great cultural capitol as well as having great wine and food. But trips out to Wachau, Kremstal, Kamptal, or Burgenland are musts!

Vienna

The cultural capitol and reputable wine region in its own right, start and end your trip in the beautiful city.

Wachau Vineyards

Wachau, considered by many to be the best wine making region in the country, produces some amazing dry Riesling and Gruner Veltliner in very dramatic vineyards.

Burgenland Vineyards

Very different from the Wachau, Burgenland is much drier and hotter being on the border of Hungary.

Durnstein Wacchau

The tiny and picturesque abbey and castle of Durnstein in the Wachau, a great place to go exploring castles, vineyards and cellars!

Claus Presinger Winery

It looks space aged and modern, which is complete opposition to his wine making style of minimal intervention and organic/sustainable viticulture. Much of the technology used it to make the winery more eco friendly.

Soil of the Wachau

Like many great wine regions, the wines are heavily influenced by the soils. Here, the crumbly loess soils of the Wachau are evident and relatively rare in the world.
